About Me

Welcome to Consider the Flowers, it’s so great to have you here!

On this page you will learn more about my history, what I enjoy and a deeper look into my passions to get a better idea of who I am.

I grew up in a small town in Mpumalanga, where I discovered a love for art, music, biology and hockey. I experienced a simple life, and learned what a diverse society South Africa is.

After school I found myself living in Cape Town studying Physiotherapy. I joined a church where I met my husband Stephen. We dated for 3 years and got married at the end of my final year. We then moved to Port Elizabeth in 2015 so I could do my community service. It was a stressful time of my life as almost everything in my life changed significantly within a few weeks. It was a period of personal growth, deepening relationship with my husband and enjoying caring for people in practical ways.

Three months after moving back to Cape Town in 2016, we set of to the USA with a lightweight hiking pack, a solar charger and each other. We hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, a wild and scenic pathway from Mexico to Canada, through the sates of California, Oregon and Washington. You can read more about the trail here, and more about our crazy, personal adventure here. It was truly a stunningly beautiful adventure which lasted 6 months but has left us with a lifetime full of memories. I have become an advocate for everyone to find an adventure, and do it, whatever it may be. Taking time out of ‘normal’ life to experience something completely different, even just for a short time, will give you perspective, grow relationships and help you realise what is really important in life.

Since then we have moved into our own little flat in the suburbs of Cape Town and have been discovering our role within our marriage, home and society. I had the opportunity to meet with God and realign my heart to his purpose for me. I got a totally new perspective on my role as a woman, a wife and what it means for me to be a Christian. I now look at femininity, family and work in a completely different light. I have a passion for children, education, fun, art and creativity, and spending quality time with people in nature. My hope is to share some of my thoughts, experiences and ideas as a creative output for me but maybe inspire you in the process.

Thank you for reading,
Kristin
